Soma operates in a region with a long and prolific history of gold production, historically driven by extensive alluvial deposits along river systems such as the Nechí River. For more than a century, the area has supported both established mining operations and a large network of informal small-scale underground mines.

The corridor between Nechí and Segovia alone is estimated to have produced more than 18 million ounces of gold from formal operations, excluding informal mining, which is widely believed to have exceeded recorded production.

Soma’s mines and exploration projects are located within one of the world’s most productive yet under-explored gold districts. The Company’s established infrastructure, regional operating presence, and significant milling capacity support a hub-and-spoke development model and enable an accelerated transition from exploration to production.
